BatteryPassportEXPLORER

Methodology and Limitations

The EU registry stores references used to locate passports. Passport data is stored by operators: the registry is not a universal public database containing all battery data.

Model-level data describes shared characteristics. Individual-level data describes one battery and its evolution. Nominal capacity, expected cycles and initial internal resistance do not replace a current SoH measurement.

The resolver checks syntax, fetches permitted public resources, follows a limited number of redirects and parses explicit JSON formats, embedded JSON-LD and a specific Circuland HTML profile. Arbitrary manufacturer HTML is not automatically supported.

VALID only means that the structural mapping contains five core fields: manufacturer, model, category, rated capacity and chemistry. It does not certify regulatory compliance. No document, certificate, signature or physical battery is authenticated.

REAL means displayed values came from a received remote response. SANDBOX identifies a documented test environment. DEMO identifies synthetic data. Supported public GBA 2024 prototypes are labeled PILOT / SANDBOX; automated tests also use isolated fixtures.

Missing fields remain missing; no SoH estimate, Ah-to-kWh conversion or compliance score is produced. Original units are preserved. Document links are references, not verified certificates.

The Raw source tab shows URLs, date, HTTP status, type, redirects, hash and parsed data. Values classified as restricted are omitted. A hash identifies a response; it does not authenticate it.

The service does not bypass accounts, access rights or authentication. Being a garage or recycler does not automatically grant access to restricted data. Access remains subject to applicable rules and the operator.
